Garmin Light Tackle Masters 2018

Well what a weekend was had at the Garmin Light Tackle Masters 2018. The weather challenged us with varied sea conditions, the fish hung around and turned it on on Sunday. We enjoyed the prestigious venue of Southport Yacht Club and had some great entertainment on Saturday night with our pirate theme.

With fishing reports the week before it was set to be an awesome tournament for the 25 boats and 83 anglers entered with large numbers of Black Marlin. It started off slow on Day 1 with 13 tagged Black Marlin. Day 2 which saw the worst of the weather and a few early retirements with only 10 tags while Day 3 really fired up and ended on a high with 26 tagged Black Marlin.

The last day saw results change from sked to sked with an outstanding effort from the team on Mufasa tagging a total of 8 Black Marlin and 2 Mahi Mahi taking out Champion Boat Tag and Release. Five of these to Rhys Jackson who took out Champion Male Angler. Champion Female was won for the second year in a row by Pam Hart on Viking II. Pam beating last years effort tagging 5 Black Marlin and 2 Mahi Mahi.
